TENURE 23-24
ASCENT
PHASE I
Ascent is a community service event that focuses on a particular set of students. Helping them in their academics, providing the necessary stationary items when needed, tutoring the children in the orphanage and involving many brain boosting activities . This is an initiative which also helps in improving their extra curricular activities and career guidance for higher secondary students is included. This will ensure that the students can learn with ease .Conversation with the children about their needs , doubts and the struggles they were facing with studies were found out . Their academic performance was analysed and an attempt to find out about their specific talents was done .
PHASE II
The event was designed to provide additional help to orphanage students with their coursework. The basic idea was to make them understand the concepts through peer learning. The event started with simple greetings followed by us taking up different standard students and different subjects. The concepts covered were 11th-grade botany and zoology, 9th-grade social studies and economics, 7th-grade mathematics, and 5th-6th-grade English. Additionally, 3rd-4th-grade students were taught both Mathematics and English. Over 23 students residing in the home were taught subjects that they had doubts in and concepts that was difficult to understand was taught with love and care.
PHASE III

The event started with simple greetings followed by us taking up classes for students of different standards in various subjects. The concepts covered were 11th grade botany and zoology, 9th grade social and economics, 7th grade maths, 5th and 6th grade English and 3rd and 4th grade Maths and English. Over 23 students residing in the home were taught subjects they had doubts in and concepts that proved difficult to understand were taught with love and care.
PHASE IV
The Ascent -4 event was organized at the Anbalaya Girl's Home, where young girls from kindergarten to class 12 were involved. Eight Rotaractors were assigned to teach different classes, focusing on the subjects that the girls desired to learn. The teaching sessions created an energetic atmosphere, as the girls enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to learn. They actively participated, displaying their eagerness to learn with their sincere dedication. Each member patiently addressed the doubts and ensured that the topics were thoroughly covered.
HOBNOB
We held an interactive session for the Elevate board members of RaC GCT, Coimbatore to get to know about one another. Each member had the opportunity to express their interactions with other other board members, good points about them , points that will help us mesh whith them better. This event helped them get to know one other learn their strengths and places in which they might need a little assistance. Thus the motive of the event was achieved and the feeling of a team was developed.
FREEDOM FEST
In celebration of the 76th Independence Day, a captivating journey was embarked under Club Service for the juniors, spanning several eventful days. Here's a vivid glimpse of the remarkable activities:
Day 1 - August 9th, 2023
The event kicked off by dividing participants into four teams, each representing a color of our national flag: Saffron, White, Green, and Blue. The day was brimming with engaging events such as,
Word Chain,Straw Pick and Dumb C.To culminate this memorable day, each participant were presented with a tricolour wrist strap as a token of love.
Day 2 - August 10th, 2023
Day 2 comprised of a treasure hunt in which teams where divided, participants deciphered clues, embarking on a thrilling treasure hunt.
Day 3 – August 11th, 2023
A debate was conducted in which three teams participated and were provided with ice breaking topics to debate about. Each and every one shared their thoughts on given topics. This created a debating platform opened to all the students. The winners were
announced and everyone was provided with a butterfly bookmark as token of love by our customizing team.
Day 4 - August 14th, 2023
The grand finale, "The Talent Show," saw the stage come alive with the vibrant talents of our GCT students. Stories, poems, dances, and more filled the air, showcasing the immense talent within our college.
Over the four days, a remarkable masterpiece took shape. With freedom-inspired quotes and thoughts elegantly etched onto it, it vividly depicted the outline of India.
NURTURANCE
This event focused on educating the lactating mothers about appropriate ways of breastfeeding and about diets to be followed during the period. The session was handled by a professional trainer, Ms. Hashini C. D who is Lamaze certified child birth educator and lactation counselor. The session was held at Coimbatore Government Hospital. This informative talk covered various aspects of handling this critical phase. Numerous mothers had the opportunity to address their queries and dispel any misunderstandings they had. Overall, the event proved highly advantageous for all breastfeeding mothers at the hospital.
REJOICE
​The primary objective of this event was to acquire knowledge about Unity from individuals with a range of differences and disabilities, while also sharing valuable moments with them. As part of this endeavor, we visited a rehabilitation center located in Kupanoor. During our visit, we organized a series of enjoyable activities, including singing and dancing sessions. Additionally, we engaged in creative activities such as crafting with coconut tree leaves and exploring the art of origami.
INSIGHT'23
The event “INSIGHT’23” is the General Club Orientation which was conducted at GCT Main Auditorium. The session was handled by Rtr. PP. Abhijeet, acting as the pilot trainer, along with Rtr. Shajiya Thabasum as the copilot faculty to impart valuable knowledge about Rotaract. During the session they covered every nook and corner of Rotaract from its history, geography and how Rotaract works along with portfolios and its roles and about Rotary. The session proved useful to around 170 students who were interested in knowing what Rotaract is all about.
INHERIT'23
INHERIT'23, the 9th installation of the Rotaract Club of GCT Coimbatore, took place at the GCT Main Auditorium on 08.09.2023. The ceremony included the presence of a welcome performance, followed by the collaring of the Outgoing President Rtr. Hemananth S, by the Sergeant at Arms. The lighting of the lamp was done by the Chief Guest, Special Invitee, Staff Co-Ordinator, Outgoing President, Incoming President, Outgoing Secretary, and Incoming Secretary. Outgoing President Rtr. Hemananth S, called the installation ceremony to order and delivered a welcome speech. The Outgoing Secretary Rtr. Roshini M, presented the Annual Club Secretary Report, and new members for the Rotary year 2023-24 were inducted by the Special Invitee, Rtr. PP. Sabarinathan S. Outgoing President Rtr. Hemananth S presented his farewell speech and installed Rtr. Harshini Priyanna S as the President. The newly installed President, Rtr. Harshini Priyanna S, gave her acceptance speech and introduced her team of office bearers. The exchange of Club Charter was conducted from the Outgoing Secretary Rtr. Roshini M to the Incoming Secretary Rtr. Joeshitha T A. The Sergeant at Arms band was exchanged from Rtr. Chohil Khan M, Sergeant at Arms (2022-23) to Rtr. Arun P, Sergeant at Arms (2023-24). The Chief Guest, Special Invitee, and Staff Coordinator addressed the gathering, followed by felicitations from Rotarians and other club Rotaractors. Pleasantries and handmade Tokens of Love were presented as a gesture of gratitude. The installation ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks by the newly installed Secretary, Rtr. Joeshitha T A, and was adjourned by the newly installed President, Rtr. Harshini Priyanna S.
NUTRIFEST
Nutrifest is a distinguished event under the avenue of Professional Service. To facilitate this enlightening session, we had the privilege of hosting Dr. N. Deepa Sathish, an accomplished Associate Professor and HOD of the Department of Food Processing Technology and Management at PSGR College of Women. The primary objective of this event was to cultivate awareness about mindful eating, a critical consideration in today's world where maintaining health and achieving a balanced nutrient intake is often neglected. Dr. N. Deepa Sathish, drawing upon her wealth of experience as a skilled dietician, adeptly expounded on the topic. She employed an illustrative PowerPoint presentation and engaged in an insightful question-and-answer session, effectively addressing the students' queries and concerns.
HUNT YOUR HARMONY
In commemoration of the International Day of Peace, an engaging and enlightening session was hosted for the students of GCT. District Trainer Rtr. Hamna A. A. Wakil from the Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Crystals graced the event as the Guest Speaker via Google Meet. The event commenced with enjoyable audience interactions, involving a song-finding activity led by the Trainer. Gradually, the focus shifted to the significance of both global peace and inner mental tranquillity. The session explored various methods to achieve mental peace and delved into strategies for fostering world peace. In its entirety, it was a sumptuous platter of wisdom and serenity.
RULAW
This event is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals. Despite numerous societal advancements, there remains a segment of our population unaware of government initiatives and progress. In an effort to assist the individuals of Pudhupaalam area, recent government schemes were elucidated, along with an overview of consumer rights, legal regulations, and emergency contact numbers. The event covered a range of schemes, including those focusing on safeguarding girl children, addressing unemployment, providing pensions, supporting children's education, and encouraging savings. The people of that area got an insight to the useful information explained by us.
AUTHOR'S APPETITE
In celebration of International Food Day, a writing contest centered on the theme " Favourite Food: Emotions and Connections" was organized. Through this contest, the participants were educated about the significance of food and their personal relationship with it. The participants submitted their writings via a provided Google Form link. To motivate their participation, E-certificates and an opportunity to have their works published in our club's bulletin - Expremiere were offered. In essence, this contest served as a platform to enhance their writing skills and foster a deeper understanding of their emotional connection to the world of food.
FOODIE
In commemoration of World Food Day, the "Foodie" event was organized on Instagram. Its main purpose was to showcase a diverse array of foods people enjoyed throughout the day and encourage participants to share their imaginative food captions. Participants posted pictures of their meals as Instagram stories, tagging the Rotaract Club of GCT Coimbatore's official Instagram page (rotaract_gct) while adding their thoughts and captions to raise awareness about the importance of not wasting food. The event garnered enthusiastic responses from students of GCT and our club members.
JOKESTER
The Rotaract Club of GCT Coimbatore proudly presents “JOKESTER,” an evening of laughter and entertainment through the art of stand-up comedy. This event was a testament to our commitment to fostering a sense of community and providing a platform for both our members and the wider public to come together and enjoy humor. To ensure a seamless experience, we offered both pre-registration and on-spot registration options. “Jokester” was more than just an evening of comedy; it was an opportunity for the students to come together, share moments of joy, and support the talents of our members.
JUBILEE
The event Jubilee was organised as a celebration to honour our founding day with Rotaractors. The Rotaractors and students participated in a cup game where they had to move a cup from one end to the other without touching it, just by using their heads and building a pyramid with it. Then all were given an opportunity to dare others to do something such as dancing and singing. Finally, cake cutting and chocolate distribution marked the joyful celebration of Charter Day. The purpose of the event was to make the Charter Day of Rotaract Club of GCT a memorable one.
SMILE
The event was conducted in three phases.
In Phase 1, Rotaractors came together to collect used notebooks, newspapers, wastepaper, and plastics from students. With the help of the Rotaractors, the event idea was effectively conveyed to the students of GCT, encouraging their participation.

Phase 2 involved selling the collected scrap to Karthika Metal Mart, a well-known junk store on Thadagam Road. This step aimed to generate funds by capitalizing on the value of the scrap materials.
Over 25 Rotaractors actively contributed to the event, and those who donated significant amounts of scrap were recognized and rewarded with certificates. Minmini M, who contributed 54 kg of scrap, and Abdul Subahan, who contributed 21 kg, were chosen as Ms. SMILE and Mr. SMILE, respectively. The event fostered a sense of creativity and reinforced the importance of reducing, recycling, and repurposing. It also demonstrated that "waste can be turned into treasure." The success of the selling and contribution phases will have a lasting impact, as the funds earned will be used for valuable contributions based on the DPP theme "SMILE."
In total, 264 kg of scrap was collected, and at a rate of 17 Rupees per kg, the event generated a total amount of 4,500 Rupees.
REVIVE
The "REVIVE" event was an International Service Event that aimed to address the issue of suicide and promote the creation of a supportive community among students. The event facilitated a connection between the Rotaract Club of GCT Coimbatore, RID 3201, and the Rotaract Club of Government First Grade College Ramanagara, RID 3191. As part of the event, Ms. Dharani Mahalingam, a psychologist, counsellor, and psychology teacher from PSG College of Arts and Science Coimbatore, was invited as a guest speaker. She is also a renowned public speaker and writer, bringing valuable insights into this topic. She taught us ways to handle stress, negativity, failure, and anxiety. Over-all it was a great eye opener for the youngsters of this generation.
SKILL SCULPT
​This event offers a remarkable chance for both personal and professional development, equipping to improve communication, leadership, and beyond. The event featured, Ms. Deepika R as our guest speaker, a versatile professional – an ICF certified life coach, NLP practitioner, and expert in soft skills training. She conducted an insightful session on "Enhancing Soft Skills" for our students. The session commenced by addressing topics such as dress code, attire, body language, effective verbal and non-verbal communication. Her insights proved to be immensely valuable, particularly when preparing for interviews, and they greatly contributed to the students' knowledge and confidence.
ILLUMINA
PHASE I
Ansoor, a rural tribal village, welcomed us warmly when we arrived. The children introduced themselves, and we engaged them in activities to learn about memory and touch by having them identify body parts. For those who were not familiar, we taught them interactively. To help the children overcome stage fright, we had each individual come forward and speak, holding their hands as makeshift microphones. We then divided the children into groups and encouraged them to draw pictures of various objects while learning their names. Another team visited the local residents to collect data regarding their hardships, environmental conditions, financial support, health issues, and needs. Through these interactions, we gained valuable insight into the challenges and difficulties they face in their environment.
PHASE II
The Rotaract Club of GCT Coimbatore, as part of the implementation of the DPP theme SMILE, visited the rural village of Ansoor, which is predominantly inhabited by tribal communities. Our objective was to address various aspects of community development during our visit.
During our interaction with the villagers, we inquired about their access to banking services. We discovered that while some individuals had bank accounts, others did not. We collected the necessary information from those without bank accounts and provided them with guidance on how to fill out bank challans. We also assisted them in understanding and completing postal challans.
As we discussed housing and sheltering issues with the villagers, we identified five houses with severely damaged roofs. To raise awareness of the situation, we recorded video evidence of the damaged houses and shared it with the affected residents. The lack of proper sanitation and toilet facilities emerged as a major concern for the community, as there were no public toilets available in the village. All of these issues are under consideration and will be fulfilled in the upcoming phase.
Additionally, we sought permission from the villagers to utilize a common wall, which we used to display important Basic Emergency Helpline numbers. These numbers included those for the police, ambulance services, fire department, child helpline, and women's helpline. The information was presented in the local language, Tamil, and the task was carried out by the Rotaractors.
All these efforts were aimed at improving livelihood opportunities, which aligned with the theme of Livelihood in the DPP initiative.
PHASE III
In Illumina-3, we the Rotaract Club of GCT made a meaningful impact in the tribal village Ansoor, prioritising students raised by single parents. Drawing insights from past phases, we distributed school bags and stationary kits with essentials like pencils and erasers. Divided into student and community teams, they conducted a public hygiene session, promoting health to women community. Rtr. PP. Pugalanthi, Director of District Priority Projects distributed necessary donations for student's educational needs. Engaging in diverse games like chess and ball games, the event aimed not just at enjoyment but also at nurturing skill development among children. The genuine delight resonating from the people and students of Ansoor reflected the positive and satisfying impact of the Rotaract Club's endeavours.
PHASE IV
The "ILLUMINA" event was conducted for the people at Ansoor village ,Near Karamadi, Coimbatore. The aim of this event was to create an interactive platform for stress relief through enjoyable games. The emphasis was on demonstrating that learning can be both fun and enriching, while also engaging with school students and promoting ideas for their education and basic livelihood. Games were conducted, followed by a yoga session that the children thoroughly enjoyed.
PHASE V
The children from the village were brought together to participate in painting activities aimed at fostering a sense of belonging to their environment. Initially, the walls were outlined with paints, and then the children, along with Rotaractors, painted various murals depicting themes such as the solar system and beloved cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and Pikachu. Additionally, informative elements such as grammar rules, days of the week, and basic manners were included. To further engage the children, a tree was created using their handprints, adding vibrancy to the hall. Upon completion of the paintings, the children were educated about the different elements depicted in the artwork, including a special addition of "I LOVE ANSOOR" to instill pride of their habitat.
PHASE VI
Phase 6 of Illumina unfolded in Ansoor, near Karamadai, Coimbatore, on May 26, 2024. This impactful phase centered on supplying essential provisions to the local community, this included 50 kg of rice, 3 kg of dal, 2 kg each of tomatoes and onions, 2 liters of oil, and 3 kg of sugar, as per the residents' requests. The total expenditure for this phase was Rs. 2000 along with some provisions contributed by our Rotaractors. These provisions were specifically provided to a family who cooks for the entire village, honoring their late father's memory. Beyond educating the community, we forged deep connections, earning their trust and becoming an integral part of their lives. This initiative also enhanced overall well-being of the community.
ULAVAM 2.0
The motive of the event was to learn the basics of farming.The trainer provided a detailed explanation of the practices that were to be carried out during the event. We began by engaging in the practice of weeding, where we diligently uprooted the weeds by hand from the crop fields. Afterward, we proceeded to the task of sowing, ensuring that the field was adequately nourished to accommodate the seeds. Specifically, we sowed Fenugreek seeds in the field. Additionally, we took part in the transplantation of Ponnanganni Keerai, carefully considering the variety and employing effective methods as guided by the trainer. Throughout these activities, we were able to genuinely grasp and empathize with the daily challenges faced by farmers in the field.
VIGILERT
We, the GCT Rotaract Club, Coimbatore along with the Rotaract Club of AC Tech organized an awareness session to emphasize the importance of reiterating society’s commitment to combat corruption. The session was handled by Rtr. IPP. Tharshini, District Trainer, Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Comito. She presented a PowerPoint presentation to share her thoughts about Corruption, corruption free society.
SURVIVA
​The event centered around the theme of survival and featured a variety of exciting games designed to ignite participants' imaginations. Some of these games included Survival Feud, What Would You Do, and Drawing Box. Through these engaging activities, participants were encouraged to explore their creativity and come up with innovative solutions for complex situations. The atmosphere was electric as participants enthusiastically discussed and shared their ideas when presented with challenging problems. The games kept everyone on the edge of their seats, fostering a sense of excitement and anticipation.
EMBARK
The community service event, EMBARK, was organized in response to the aftermath of a heavy rainstorm that had caused significant damage to the Human Animal Society. Recognizing the urgent need for assistance, the event aimed to provide essential support to the affected pets. One of the primary focuses of the event was to gather donations of basic food supplies for the animals. College students came together and generously contributed bags of rice specifically for the dogs. In addition to the rice, the event organizers also arranged for donations of Pedigree, cat food, and biscuits, ensuring a well-rounded provision of essential nutrition for the pets in need.
The members actively engaged with the Human Animal Society, spending quality time with the animals. During the event, discussions were held with the organization about future initiatives. The Rotaractors expressed their willingness to assist further by volunteering in the field and helping to clean and maintain the organization's premises.
GEISTO
To commemorate Halloween Day, the Rotaract Club of GCT Coimbatore organized a festive celebration inspired by the Western Christian feast. The event began with an engaging discussion about Halloween, enlightening participants about its significance, historical background, and reasons for celebration.
A small quiz was conducted to test the participants' knowledge of Halloween. The Rotaractors were divided into teams and tasked with solving a word puzzle related to the holiday.
The event also featured recreations of iconic horror movie scenes, adding an element of excitement and thrill to the atmosphere. A "Truth or Scare" game was conducted to reveal participants' reactions. As a finale to the event, thrilling and eerie music was played, intensifying the Halloween ambiance and leaving participants with a lasting impression.
JOGO
​On account of World Television Day, We the Rotaract Club of GCT Coimbatore, celebrated this UN recognized day. At first, we decoded the event title and engaged the participants with fun games from the famous reality shows across the globe like Mathi Yosi, Vaila Kolukatta, Hammer Dummy and Genes. Finally, we concluded the event by conveying the importance of the television and highlighted this year’s theme “accessibility.”
PAARAMBARIYAM
The session commenced with the Event Chairman delivering a brief speech on World Heritage Week and its significance, setting the tone for the event. To start things off, a warm-up game called "Suvai Arumbugal" was played, focusing on counting the highest number of Tamil foods. Next, the participants engaged in a game called "Palamozhi Puzhavar." In this game, teams had to identify Tamil proverbs.Afterwards, the teams participated in "Nadana Thodar," where a few dance steps were taught and they had to convey it to their team members.Following that, the game "Kuralodu Vilaiyadu" took place. Each team was given three different "kural" from Thirukural, which were then shuffled and distributed among the participants. Concluding the event, "Ethirum Puthirum" was played. Each team was assigned a specific food topic and had to express its positive or negative aspects based on whether a clap sound was made.
HIVE-DRIVE
In the immersive "Hive Dive" experience at Irutupallam's Honey Bee farm, Ramesh Sir skillfully guided us through the mesmerizing intricacies of apiculture. The journey unfolded a tapestry of bee varieties, unveiling the captivating roles of worker bees and the queen bee. We not only witnessed the delicate dance of bees but also actively engaged in the hands-on aspects of honey-making. This dynamic exploration deepened their understanding, emphasizing the indispensable fusion of academic insight and practical expertise in the realm of apiculture.
BOSS BUNCH
Boss Bunch was an interactive and fun-filled event aimed at inculcating team spirit in every individual's mind and building team unity. The event began with an introduction, followed by various activities. The first game played was the number game. A date related to Rotaract was hidden, and teams revealed numbers by answering questions.Next, the teams participated in a game involving properties. Each team was given a property and had to depict as many uses of that property as possible within a short duration.Afterward, one person from each team was called to the stage, and the selected individuals were paired up. Each pair was given a specific theme and had to bet on the maximum number of contents their team could provide within that theme. If they believed their opponent could not surpass their bet, they could challenge them. If they successfully completed the bet, they became the winners; otherwise, the other team will emerge victorious.
HAND-i-HOOD
PHASE I
This event focused on the L- Livelihood of the District theme SMILE . In this event the Rotaracters were taught to make wire baskets with the help of a fellow student and YouTube tutorials . These baskets are to be sold in the phase 2 of this event . About 40 Rotaracters joined hands to make 20 beautifully hand woven baskets . This event taught the Rotraracters a new skill that can potentially be used as an alternative source of income .
PHASE II
The event was initiated with the motive of making money by selling hand woven baskets and donating the money to a worthy cause. In this phase of Hand-i-hood, the baskets made in Phase 1 were sold in Ukkadam Lake. A total of 20 baskets were made in Phase 1 of the event by Rotaractors and students. All 20 of these baskets were sold in stalls set up around Ukkadam lake. The event came to an end around 4 pm by which all the baskets were sold. A substantial amount was made by selling the baskets. This amount will be donated to a worthy project in Phase 3 of the event. Through this event Rotaractors sharpened their marketing skills. They cultivated the skill of selling products to the public in a convincing way and managed to sell all the baskets. The money generated will be put into a cause under the DPP theme SMILE.
CAPABLE CONNECT
​The event named Capable Connect was held in the avenue of community service, specifically addressing children with special needs. The main objective of the project was to motivate and engage the children through enjoyable activities like drawing, dancing, and other activities. On December 2nd, 2023, the event took place at a children's orphanage near Podanur. We actively interacted with the children and played games with them encouraging proper communication methods.
GIFTEMENT
PHASE I
The event GIFTEMENT was aimed to support homeless individuals facing adverse weather conditions such as cold and heavy rains. The event was made possible through generous donations from college students, who contributed essential items like sweaters, umbrellas, and raincoats. The donated items were distributed equally among the families, who graciously accepted the assistance and expressed their heartfelt gratitude. The event left behind a sense of fulfilment and appreciation for the collective effort made to help those in need.
PHASE II
The event was planned to provide assistance to road-side homeless people who are suffering without proper clothes and necessities. Sufficient necessary items such as sweaters, clothes, and bedsheets were collected from college students who willingly donated their contributions. The necessary items around GH Coimbatore. The collected items were distributed equally among the individuals present, who joyfully accepted the gesture and expressed their gratitude.
EDIFY
To foster awareness on sex education among adolescent boys, a visit was organized to Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Thondamuthur. The session, led by Rotaractors, aimed to empower young men educated in an all-boys environment, fostering confidence in interactions with the opposite gender and addressing potential challenges in professional settings. This event extended beyond verbal exchanges, incorporating awareness of touch and behavioral cues to ensure protection against abuse. The session highlighted key points such as socializing, prioritizing gender equality, emphasizing respectful communication with women of all ages ,underlining the importance of consensual interactions, responsible sexual behaviors, and safeguarding against potential abuse.
WISDOM WELL
The primary focus of this event was to provide valuable information to senior citizens regarding healthy diets and exercise routines. Dr. Deepa Sathish, Associate Professor and HOD of Food Technology at PSGR Krishnammal College, handled the session. Her extensive knowledge and expertise shed light on crucial aspects of leading a healthy lifestyle and achieving a longer lifespan. The elderly participants actively engaged in various exercises, demonstrating their enthusiasm and eagerness to improve their well-being. Dr. Deepa Sathish imparted essential awareness regarding proper eating habits and food choices, offering guidance on what to eat and how to eat. This event holds significant importance for everyone, as it plays a vital role in enhancing the overall quality of life.
INBURA PONGAL
The event aimed to celebrate Pongal with orphanage children. The event focused on making delicious Pongal for the children by Rotaractors. The children were divided into teams and were engaged with amusing games and activites. Children actively took part in all the games and were very interactive. Pongal was first offered to God and gratitude was expressed. The celebration concluded with the joyous serving of delicious Pongal to the children.
URCHAVAM
The Pongal celebration event was a vibrant affair, blending traditional games and the joyous aroma of cooking Pongal. Rotaractors joined together as a family and gathered to partake in age-old customs, with activities like tug-of-war and lemon and spoon race, infusing the atmosphere with lively energy. Meanwhile, the preparation of Pongal was going simultaneously, with Rotaractors taking turns to stir the boiling pots filled with rice, lentils, dry fruits, milk, ghee and jaggery. The event truly captured the essence of Pongal, fostering fellowship spirit and celebrating cultural heritage.
EDUVISTA
EduVista is a two day programme arranged by collaboration of Rotaract Club of GCT Coimbatore and the NSS Club of GCT, exclusively for school students. Its primary objective was to give students from different government schools information about different career paths, particularly with regards to engineering courses. Students from eight different schools attended the event on Day 1. Students learned about the TNEA engineering counselling process and available placement opportunities from our college placement officer, Dr. K. Ramesh, and programme coordinator, BRTE Amsaveni. After lunch, the students took a tour of GCT to witness each department in more detail. Students from ten different schools participated in Day 2.On second day the event started with an address by the Principal of GCT,Dr. K. Manonmani and concluded with a similar tour. The event also beguiled the students through musical performances by our college Orchestra and Tamil Mandram.
NANMAI
The Rotaractors organized an impactful event aimed at raising awareness about road safety. With the help of dedicated team members, reflective stickers were successfully affixed to the rear end of vehicles to improve visibility during nighttime and foggy weather conditions. These stickers are designed to reflect lights, ensuring that vehicles remain visible to other drivers on the road. The event took place at the college parking area and received significant participation and support from fellow Rotaractors. The event's success made a positive impact on road safety awareness within the college community. By enhancing visibility and promoting safe driving practices, the initiative hopes to contribute to a decrease in road accidents and create a safer environment for all road users.
CASH CLARITY
The primary focus of the CashClarity event was to promote financial literacy among Rotaractors, highlighting ample investment opportunities for teenagers and addressing common financial pitfalls and scams prevalent in this generation. Rtr. PP. Mohamed Afsar, the current District Treasurer of RID 3201, served as the session handler, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience in finance. The Rotaractors eagerly sought answers to their queries on investing, market trends, and more. Rtr. PP. Mohamed Afsar provided valuable insights on efficient product purchasing through EMI, emphasizing the avoidance of unchecked spending through internet banking. Furthermore, he explained the concept of SIP and its advantages. This event left a significant impact on Rotaractors, offering them invaluable life lessons for financial independence.
ENDOW
The event began around 9:30 AM and witnessed a large turnout, generating a lot of excitement. Two trainers, Rtr. Subash, District Trainer and Rtr. Srivarshan, District Trainer Designate, were invited to conduct a career counseling workshop on Resume Building, LinkedIn Preparation, and Career Creation with AI. This workshop focused on an important topic that many students recognize as significant.
The first half of the session revolved around Resume Building and was designed to be interactive. The trainers used a PowerPoint presentation filled with funny memes to engage the participants. After a short break, the session resumed with a discussion on processing LinkedIn with AI tools. This segment allowed many students to actively interact with the speakers. By the end of the session participants learnt how to build a proper resume and create a LinkedIn profile.
BENEVOLENCE
Provisions such as rice, dhal, oil, and other basic food commodities were donated for the families of Cancer patients under the care of Coimbatore Cancer Foundation. The expense on buying the provisions, Rs. 4000 was fully sponsored by donors. The visit to the foundation took place at 10 AM. The representatives of the foundation shared their journey of helping cancer patients and addressed the doubts of the Rotaractors. Subsequently, the provisions were donated to the foundation.
eSECURE
The Rotaractors organized an awareness program on the importance of using the internet safely. The event commenced smoothly, with Rtr. IPP. Karthik Govindraj as the speaker who kept the audience engaged and enthusiastic throughout. Participants learned about the significance of maintaining separate email accounts for office, junk, and personal use. The program also educated them about the potential risks associated with website cookies and caches, and provided insights on how to identify and address such risks. Overall, the event equipped attendees with the knowledge and skills to utilize the benefits of the internet society while ensuring their safety.
CAREER CATALYST
The event “Career Catalyst” was held to forge a path for students’ career to lead to success. The dignified speakers Mr. Sanjay, Mr. Saravanan, Mr. Mukunth and Ms. Salma were invited to share their experience about placements and their preparation methods by which they cracked their boundaries and placed in reputed organizations. Their way of conveyance was clear and they made the session interactive and informative. Students asked their queries related to placements and higher studies, and it was sorted out by speakers. The session came to an end by sharing bunch of valuable ideas for students.
TOGETHERNESS
Togetherness event focused on building companionship among club members. The attendees were split into two teams based on their birth date and month. The first game conducted was "Ball porukki" . The second game conducted was "Ziggy zaggy" where the participants were asked to hold their hands and walk in a zigzag line and carry the balloon from one end to other end of the class. The next game was "kandupudi kandupudi". The next game was "Thedu, seru".The next game was "Midhichu munneru". Chocolates were distributed and the feedbacks were given by the attendees. At last a group photo was taken and the session winded.
UNDERSTANDING TRF
The event was proposed with the motive of giving the club members on what The Rotary Foundation is. The event speaker Rtr. PP. Thanghapantieyaan, District Rotaract Representative Elect started the session with a specific question related to the number of seconds in a day. Following this he gave a detailed explanation of the history, current heads, function of The Rotary Foundation. This was followed by information on the various funds and grants. He gave a detailed explanation of all the honour given to the donors. The method on how a Rotaract club can get funding from Rotary for a project and the steps a club should follow to get Rotaract Giving Certificate and their criteria were also discussed.
CINEATHON
Cinema has the power to bring together a diverse range of strangers. We, Indians, Tamils in particular, have an everlasting connection to films over the years. To commemorate and bring these cinema enthusiasts together as one, a club service event CINEATHON was organised. Before the games started out, the players were separated into teams. Three games were the main highlights of the event: Movie flicks, which involves identifying a movie based on the actor, Song search which is a betting game of providing maximum count of songs under a specific criteria and Cine shuffle, which is essentially figuring out jumbled movie names. All of the participants had fun guessing the answers with their peers and had fun accomplishing the challenges. Following the conclusion of the games, the team with the most points was declared to be the winner of the event.
KYC
KYC, which stands for "Know Your Club," is an annual tradition aimed at educating junior members about Rotaract and helping them grasp the organisation much better. Rtr. David Livingston, the club vice-president, gave the members a comprehensive overview of Rotary on the first day of KYC. The president, Rtr. Harshini Priyanna, preceded the next session. An introduction to the different portfolios within the club wrapped up the first day of KYC. The club's secretary, Rtr. Joeshitha, resumed the second day of the event by providing a detailed explanation of the several paths and order of actions that need to be taken for a successful flow of an event. Day 2's second part was led by the President once more, who provided a synopsis of each of the club's portfolios. Day 2 concluded with Rtr. Harish, the International Service Director, giving an overview of the several club properties and how they are employed. With which the occasion came to an end.
SHESHINE
The Documentary “SheShine” is the diverse narratives of women across professions (Tea house attendant, Fancy store attendant, Tailor, Law student, College Student). It dives into insightful conversations where thought-provoking questions concerning women and society were asked and inspiring stories and experiences of women from various walks of life were captured. From trailblazing professionals to unsung heroes, this documentary sheds light on the resilience, achievements, and voices of women. These voices were edited into a documentary. As aimed, SheShine focuses on Women’s Day, women in our college campus were also celebrated by giving them a token of love along with hearty wishes. The same questions were asked to the women in our campus and their stories were crafted into cherished memories.
COLLOQUIUM
The event Colloquium ignited engaging conversations and celebrated the power of diverse perceptions. The event's main motive was to make an interactive session with various topics. Initially, the participants were split into groups. The groups were asked to block and tackle the topics which created a commotion and ignited the stage with fire. The passionate debaters engaged themselves with thought provoking discussion on contemporary issues, showcasing their eloquence, critical thinking and persuasive abilities which lead to clash of minds and strengths. Amidst the heated debates, there was also fun filled moments which soothed the hot Colloquium stage.
EUDAIMONIA
The Rotaractors planned to conduct an event to provide information about the importance of traditional food. The event started with the speech of Event Chair giving introduction to the event. There were games named BLIND SEARCH, YUM YUM, GRAIN TRANSFER, PAATU O METER AND GRAINS GALORE in which all the games were related to the traditional foods i.e, grains, pulses etc. All the participants maintained the cheer throughout the event and were willingly participating in the games that were conducted. The games were made more interesting by providing penalties to the losing teams like giving them healthy food items which tasted odd such as bitter guard juice. The event came to an end by explaining the importance of all these food and distribution of eatables made by our Rotaractors by the grains that are used in the games so far such as thinai payasam, ellu urundai, ragi koozh, thinai laddu etc.
CULTXANGE
In the event CultXange, fellow Rotaractors of Rotaract Club of GCT Coimbatore came together in crafting 3 separate scrapbooks each representing one of the three cultural aspects of RID 3201 domains Coimbatore, Idukki, Palakkad, Thrissur and Cochin' s Food, Places and Events which was then sent via post to the Rotaract Club of Salem Gugai of RID 2982. Also, scrapbooks were received from them. Further letterheads were exchanged between both the clubs.
SLAKE
This event was brought up on account of World Water Day (March 22). The event focused on providing a sustainable solution to reduce water wastage and time consumption by fitting glasses near the drinking water pipes in our most accessed Open Auditorium water plant which was followed by a session of fun games that focused on the conservation of water. The event was concluded by stressing the importance of World Water Day and the ideology of this year's theme "Water for Peace".
HYDROHOPE
A significant gesture was made by donating a water tank to a panchayat union middle school, emphasizing the commitment to addressing water scarcity issues. Following the donation, an enlightening session on water conservation was conducted, imparting essential knowledge and fostering awareness among the students. Through interactive discussions and engaging activities, students were empowered with the tools to make a positive impact on their environment. Furthermore, entertaining games were organized, fostering camaraderie and reinforcing the importance of community involvement in conservation efforts. Overall, the event served as a catalyst for change, inspiring students to embrace sustainable practices and become stewards of water conservation.
EXCURSION
On the 16th of March 2024, a group of Rotaractors gathered at the foothills promptly at 9 P.M. At approximately 12 A.M. on the 17th of March 2024, the ascent began. Despite encountering significant congestion due to the large volume of climbers, adept resource management facilitated the successful traversal of the seven hills of Vellingiri. Witnessing the sunrise from this vantage point proved to be an unforgettable spectacle. Subsequently, the descent was carried out methodically, arriving back at the base by approximately 4 P.M. on the 17th of March 2024.
ECOVENTURE
The event ‘EcoVenture’ was organised in collaboration with GCT Student Alumni Relationship Cell (gSARC) aimed to create awareness on climate change in our contemporary world. The session was handled by a renowned Climate warrior who successfully completed a challenging cycle ride from Kashmir to Kanyakumari covering 4200 km. This endeavour effectively conveyed the message of environmental consciousness to the youth audience. The speaker elucidated on sustainable approaches to foster a safer environment for the future, encapsulating the essence of the event.
TRANSCEND
The event was organized with the aim of providing members with a guidance session on studying abroad, offering valuable insights and expert counseling for international academic pursuits. Mrs. Sai Sudha, Director of Brocade Educational Consultancy, initiated the event with an engaging session, highlighting her role in facilitating students' placements in top universities abroad. She outlined the necessary steps to secure admission to dream universities and emphasized proactive measures to achieve their academic goals. The event captivated the attendees, who gained valuable insights and were inspired by Mrs. Sudha's expertise.
SANGEETHA SWARANGAL
The main motto of this event was to enjoy the session with laughter. Initially, the participants were divided into teams. Totally three rounds were conducted in this event. The first round was Connection, where pictures of songs were displayed on the screen and the players found the songs. Points were allotted to the team with respect to the number of songs found by them. The second round was 'Speed-oh-Speed.'A riddle question was asked, and the person who knew the correct answer representing their team, took a chance. The stick was placed vertically on the ground, and players bent and keeping their forehead on it, ran around it three times. The third round was 'Paper Cup.' Water was filled in the cups, and players balanced those cups on their head while dancing to a song played. Additionally, there were penalty tasks which was given to the losing team by the winning team at the end of three rounds.
ROBUSTY
The Robusty event kicked off by dividing participants into three teams. Firstly, the "Let's Unite" game had five people per team tackling balloons within a set time frame. Next was "Jump or Fall," a lively pair skipping game. Then, participants engaged in "High Jump," a frog jump task after spinning five times. These activities focused on physical health. For mental well-being, the "Scribblesome" game was conducted where everyone wrote about their good and bad life phases, tearing away the negative ones. Participants were then given balloons to write about their negative memories or disliked individuals/things before popping them. Lastly, tokens of love were distributed, encouraging everyone to share and spread positivity.
UNITY IN ACTION
The event was planned to assist homeless elderly individuals who struggle without proper shelter against harsh climates such as freezing cold, heavy rains and unbearable heat. The intention was to admit them to the HELPING HEARTS OLD AGE HOME with their consent and interest. Despite efforts to locate homeless individuals willing to accept help, none agreed beforehand. On the day of the event, the Government Hospital (GH) was visited around 10 A.M. Numerous elderly individuals were found suffering without adequate food and shelter. An elderly man in critical condition was discovered, and his situation was conveyed to the Helping Hearts Old Age Home. The in-charge facilitated his admission to the Government Hospital (GH), where he was placed in the emergency ward. Upon his full recovery, arrangements were made to transfer him to the old age home.
HALE
The event Hale was organised on account of World Health Day (April 7). The event focused on kindling the flairs of Rotaractors and non-Rotaractors. The competitions included Drawing (Doodle Art/Pencil Sketching/Painting), Slogan Writing (Tamil/English), Healthy Food Recipe Writing and Healthy Food spots. The participants were encouraged to submit their works in Google form that was circulated in WhatsApp groups. Winners were awarded with e-certificates and all the participants were provided with participation certificates.
CRAFTOPIA
PHASE I
The event Craftopia Phase-I mainly focused on explaining the event motto, How we were raising funds for the upcoming phases II and III. It was a Professional event in which the Rotaractors were taught how to make bracelets, earrings and anklets easily by using quality beads, threads and quilling papers. In order to indulge the Rotaractors in this phase I of Craftopia, the main cause and impact of phase I was explained clearly on how the fund will be used in the upcoming phases. In order to teach and learn something new, the crafting of these things were done in this event.
PHASE II
The second phase of Craftopia featured the sales of handmade jewellery crafted in phase-1 of the event. The handcrafted items like bracelets and earrings were showcased for sales in Town hall. Many individuals who had zero interest in ornaments also bought the products as a gesture of appreciation for the cause. Ultimately, a remarkable profit was raised, which proved the success of the event.
PHASE III
This event made use of the amount raised in the fundraising event of Craftopia phase II, the event focused to provide the necessities and provisions to the Orphanage people living in Asissi Snehalaya, near Madhukarai. Upon learning of their need for blankets, buckets, and mugs, proactive steps were taken to sponsor and procure these necessities. The amount raised from Craftopia Phase II was utilized to fulfill this initiative, ensuring that the orphanage residents received the support they required.
HEAL
On account of wellness of mental health an awareness session was organized with Rtr. Sanmathi B, District Trainer as the speaker, illuminating the shadows of childhood trauma, PTSD, and peer pressure. Through dynamic discussions and interactions, participants confronted the invisible scars that these experiences left behind. From exploring the intricacies of trauma's impact on the developing brain to dissecting the societal pressures that exacerbate mental health challenges, the event offered a comprehensive exploration of these complex issues. By amplifying voices of resilience and offering strategies for healing and support, it empowered the attendees to become agents of change in their communities, fostering environments of understanding, acceptance, and compassion.
FUNOUT
An outdoor event featuring fun games was planned to encourage people to enjoy the outdoors. Participants were divided into four teams, with one member from each team volunteering for each game. The first game, "Kai Ku Etunathu Vaiku Etala," made volunteers to eat hanging vadas with their hands folded behind their backs. In the second game, "Ennodu Nee Irruthal," selected individuals had balloons placed on their backs and their hands tied as they walked to the end line. The third game, "Boomi Enna Suthutheyy," involved transferring water without spilling after spinning around ten times. Lastly, in "Lojak Mojak Pachak," participants protected balloons tied to their feet from a stampede. Each game concluded with lessons in life morals.
SEVA
This event was brought up on account of Civil Services Day (April 21). The event was aimed at inspiring and igniting the spirits of young aspirants by providing guidance to achieve their full potential. The session was carried by the Honourable Speaker Mrs. V. Latha DRO/Principal, CSTI, Bhavanisagar. She shared her experience and offered guidance thereby illuminating the future officials.
POLLO
The event commenced at 3:00 PM from Town Hall as planned, with a rally intended to go from Town Hall to Ukkadam, carrying banners and placards to promote voter awareness. Subsequently, the participants split into four teams. Each team engaged in conversations with the public from 4:25 to 5:30 PM. They selected individuals or families and posed 4 or 5 questions related to elections. Individuals who answered three questions correctly received chocolates as tokens of appreciation. Pamphlets containing voting guidelines and a pledge to vote responsibly were distributed, with encouragement for people to sign them. Finally, each team collected voter awareness quotes in a collection box to highlight public understanding of voting following the conversations.
GLOBE-ATHON
The "Globe-athon" event unfolded in the Rotaract room, commencing at approximately 5:50 pm. Organized into 5 rounds, participants were divided into five teams designated A through E. The first round, "Capital Cities Race," tasked individuals to draw five states' capitals picked randomly from a box, with the fastest team emerging victorious. In the subsequent round, "Flag Identification," pairs from each team memorized and sketched flags within a minute, competing for accuracy. The third round, "Guess the Right," presented teams with two statements, one correct, requiring them to discern the accurate one for points. "Find the Place," the fourth round, necessitated puzzle-solving to locate monuments. Concluding the competition, "Where They Belong" featured themes like politicians and musicians, prompting teams to identify personalities' names and nationalities from presented images. Post-round tallies determined the winner, followed by the distribution of tokens of appreciation and chocolates.
BEAT THE HEAT
The main theme of the event was to provide an awareness on maintaining our body during summer seasons. The Guest Speaker Dr. Diraviaraj gave great insights on the diseases that may occur in our body during summer and what were all the ways and procedures by which one can reduce the risk of those diseases and the method of treatment of the disease by our own. And also, the speaker gave great awareness and importance to the problem of dehydration and the diseases that could arise due to insufficient intake of water. The clear understanding of the various diseases were given by showing the images of the diseases and giving a clear understanding of it. The diseases that he covered were important diseases that we usually face during summer like Chicken pox and the methodologies that we should use to tackle this summer.
WHIMSY WANDER
The event commenced with the distribution of tokens of appreciation, accompanied by a twist for team member selection. The first game, "Yaar adhu?" involved exchanging papers with nicknames, challenging participants to match them with the corresponding individuals. In the subsequent game, "Engal veetil Ella naalum kaarthigaii", teams were tasked with capturing and sharing a creative photo on their social media accounts within 5 minutes. "Kaagidha kappal" followed, introducing three origami designs for teams to replicate using provided materials, with additional paper earned through completing tasks. A lively debate, "Neeya Naana," ensued, with each team representing a cartoon character. In "Tik Tok", teams had 15 minutes to create a reel. Finally, the event concluded with a spirited Treasure Hunt.
ExplorEd
The event ExploreEd began at 9:30 AM with departure from Sevashram Trust in RS Puram. The group arrived at the GD Museum, initiating a two-hour exploration of the Car & Science Museum to foster awareness about science and technology among the orphanage students. The group moved to VOC Park for a nutritious lunch, providing sustenance and a break for the students until 1:30 PM. During this time, bonds were strengthened within the community, and a sense of camaraderie was fostered among the participants. Tokens of love were distributed to the students, acknowledging their participation and contribution to the event. This gesture aimed to uplift and encourage the underprivileged youth, igniting a passion for learning and innovation.
CODEQUEST
The event commenced with participants registering through Google Forms, providing personal details for authentication and certificate issuance. Their prior coding experience was also surveyed to tailor content accordingly. CodeQuest spanned two days online via GMeet. Mr. Giridharan S and Mr. Karthikeyan S, took over. Mr. Giridharan introduced Python programming, covering topics such as datatypes, variables, identifiers, operators, and control structures. He advised students to download Python for the next day's practice.
On Day 2 Mr. Karthikeyan instructed students on lists, tuples, sets, dictionaries, inbuilt functions, and user-defined functions using code snippets. Mr. Giridharan elucidated Object-Oriented Programming Concepts in Python, simplifying complex concepts through line-by-line coding in Python IDE. He further covered data structures, demonstrating stack, queue, and linked lists on Jamboard, engaging students in coding exercises. Mr. Karthikeyan and Mr. Giridharan jointly addressed essential interview questions, challenging participants to apply workshop knowledge.
BEYOND LABELS
An initiative in collaboration with Nithilyam Home in their annual day celebration, supporting Asperger's Syndrome (AS) children by providing them with educational gifts and medals in recognition of their talents. The children were delighted by the gifts provided. The event received support from sponsors who were pleased to contribute for the children. Arriving at the venue at 2:30 PM, preparations for the event began, followed by engagement with the children. The event concluded with a heartwarming performance by the children, accompanied by the presentation of certificates and medals to them.
CHAPTERS EXPLORED
PHASE I
The online event "CHAPTERS EXPLORED" took place via Google Meet. Participants received books spanning diverse genres, followed by an inspiring talk on the importance of reading delivered by the coordinators. Afterwards, participants were allotted time to delve into their respective books. In the upcoming phase of the event, discussions were planned to be held to delve into the specifics of each book, fostering a deeper understanding among participants.
PHASE II
The CHAPTERS EXPLORED Phase 2 event was conducted in online, bringing students together to develop a regular reading habit. Building upon Phase 1, where students received books, phase 2 focused on instilling the importance of reading common books. Initially, students shared their book reading experiences and stories of the books. The session then delved into an exploration of popular book genres in both English and Tamil, followed by an examination of books that have been adapted into well-known movies. To engage everyone, common questions about books prompted lively interaction and everyone shared their experiences. Additionally, students provided a book suggestion for each other. The session also delved into autobiographies of notable leaders and cricketers, providing insights into their lives and achievements.
WHOLESOMENESS
The "Wholesomeness" project was scheduled on April 17, 2024, starting at 5:30 PM at the Nizhal Charitable Trust in Coimbatore. The session, led by Dr. Suganya, began with an introduction and welcome address, followed by a comprehensive presentation on Iron Balance and PCOS Awareness. Dr. Suganya, an experienced consultant in Infertility & ObGyn, imparted valuable knowledge to the preteen and teenage girls present, emphasizing the significant impact of diet on their overall lifestyle. An interactive Q&A session was conducted to engage participants, allowing them to seek clarification and further insights. Provisions of iron supplements and sanitary napkins were provided to girls ensuring immediate access to essential resources for the girls' health. The session continued with a demonstration of hygienic practices, aimed at instilling good habits for better health outcomes. Dr. Suganya's expertise and dedication to women's health, coupled with her experience in Obstetrics & Gynecology, enriched the session. The event concluded with closing remarks and expressions of gratitude, acknowledging the importance of education and empowerment in promoting healthier lives for all participants.
SEEDSPARKS
The event "Seedsparks" commenced at 11:15 am, led by Dr. Karthikeyan, who shared valuable insights on environmental significance and the necessity of seedballs for environmental growth. Participants received hands-on guidance on crafting seedballs using clay, coir, cow dung and seeds. Divided into groups, attendees enthusiastically engaged in the seedball-making process, fostering a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the event. A total of approximately 240 seedballs were meticulously crafted, symbolizing the collective effort and commitment of the participants. These seedballs were entrusted to Dr. Karthikeyan for further care and utilization. With active participation and enthusiasm from all, the event concluded successfully, culminating in a memorable group photo capturing the spirit of the day.
CRUNCHIES
Crunchies, an engaging event, revolved around the transformation of old fabrics into stylish scrunchies. Rotaractors pooled their creativity and worked as a team to craft these fashionable accessories. Once completed, the unique handmade scrunchies were put up for sale to the public. The proceeds from the scrunchie sales were earmarked to support orphanage residents, adding a charitable dimension to the event's purpose. This initiative not only showcased the Rotaractors' talent and dedication but also demonstrated their commitment to making a positive impact in their community.
HOROLOGICA
The "Horologica" event commenced at 4:00 PM, conducted online via G-Meet. The event coordinator provided an overview of the agenda and introduced the session's facilitator, Rtr. PP Vijay Vignesh, District Trainer. He led an insightful and interactive session focused on optimizing productivity outside of regular class hours and honing academic skills. During the session, participants were equipped with numerous strategies and techniques to make the most of their holidays effectively. Rtr. PP Vijay Vignesh's guidance provided valuable insights, empowering attendees to maximize their time and resources for personal and academic growth.
WELLNESS WHEELS
Initially, the Rotaractors purchased medical kits. We then gathered in Gandhipuram to engage with bus drivers and conductors, highlighting the importance of these kits. After distributing them, we educated the drivers on their usage. Installing these kits in buses improves passenger safety by enabling quick first aid responses and reducing emergency response times.
LABOR OF LOVE
On the account of National Safe Motherhood Day (April 11), an event was planned to capture and showcase the labor pain every mother goes through, wit the help of a documentary video that features the stories of labor ward .This initiative aimed to make everyone aware about the motherhood especially about labor pain and to represent why and how the child birth has evolved over the last 3 decades.
UPCYCLE
The event, named UPCYCLE, was conceived to repurpose waste glass bottles into stunning vases and light lamps. Arriving at Gandhipuram by noon, the organizers commenced the sale of the products. The glass bottles were gathered from the surroundings. They were meticulously painted and transformed into exquisite vases and lamps. A remarkable amount of money was raised through the initiative.
SHINE A VISION
Through a collaboration with VASAN EYE CARE HOSPITAL, essential eye care services were brought directly to underprivileged rural communities in Puthupalam. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from both volunteers and community members, with numerous individuals benefiting from vision screenings, eye examinations, and access to affordable eyewear. A total of 46 people were provided with eye care services from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm, with the support of 7 dedicated volunteers. This ensured that each individual received the attention and support they deserved. Beyond addressing immediate eye care needs, "SHINE A VISION" fostered a sense of community engagement and empowerment. Volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure that every individual received the attention and support they deserved by improving access to quality eye care services.
SHADE AND SHINE
PHASE I
Shade and Shine event was organised to create awareness on recycling and repurposing old clothes. Initially the old clothes were collected from the students of GCT. The process of mat making was explained thoroughly to the participants. The old clothes were cut into three pieces and the pieces of cloth were braided long enough. The clothes can be attached to make long braid and the ends were stitched. Then the braid is rolled in a circular pattern and by the same time it is sewed with a needle to make a round mat. The demo of this process was done and the clothes were distributed among the Rotaractors. This event not only focuses on the waste reduction but also showcases the artistry and resourcefulness of the makers.
PHASE II
SHADE and SHINE (Phase-2) event was organised to create an opportunity of selling mats and to encourage the use of hand-made products. The mats crafted by the students of GCT were sold in everyone’s locality. The process and the purpose of selling the mats were explained clearly to them. The importance of product reuse was thoroughly explained to the buyers. Clear explanations were provided for the queries raised by the people. The hand-crafted mats were sold to them and they bought it happily. This event not only focuses on enhancing the marketing skills of the students but also helps in promoting the use of hand-made and reusable products thus reducing environmental pollution.
WEBSPARK
The event was a web design contest limited to front-end development using HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap, took place on May 5th, 2024. Adhitya R and Noufal Rahman, both experienced front-end developers joined as judges for the contest. The event theme was announced at 8:45 AM, and approximately 20 registered participants participated in the contest. Guidelines and informations were provided to participants, who completed their designs by 12:30 PM. A Google Meet session commenced at 12:30 PM. Participants showcased their designs and explained their techniques, fielding questions from the judges. Ten participants presented their designs during the Google Meet session. Following the event, winners were selected based on their performance, design quality, and technology usage. E-certificates were provided to all participants, including the winners.
FOLIAGE FIESTA
Participants enthusiastically planted seeds, saplings or potted plants in their own homes or outdoor spaces. The event brought people together, creating a vibrant community spirit. Cameras clicked as participants documented their planting process. Photos captured hands in soil, tenderly placing seeds, and nurturing young plants. Alongside photos, participants shared personal reflections, eco-friendly tips, and quotes related to planting and nurturing.
SNAPSKILL
The event 'Snapskill: Capturing Creativity' was set to be a riveting exploration of the art of photography. Featuring esteemed guest speaker Mr. Kaviyarasu. P, a Senior Photographer & Trainer from Fiche Photography Services Private Limited, the session promised to be enlightening. Participants delved into various topics, including the conceptualization of photographs, mastering basic settings and terminology, understanding different types of cameras and lenses, and discovering career opportunities in the field. The event also offered practical tips and tricks for beginners, along with showcasing photos by the speaker. The session culminated in a segment for doubt clearing, participant questions, feedback collection and expressions of gratitude. It is anticipated that this event inspired excellence in photography and cultivated a vibrant community of enthusiasts eager to hone their craft.
VETRI PADI
The 'Vetri Padi' event, hosted by sister clubs parented by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore East , The Rotaract Clubs of GCT Coimbatore, Coimbatore Unity, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Dr. NGP Institute of Technology, PPG Institute of Technology, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women featured an interactive session led by District Trainer Rtn. Rtr. PP. Srinath. Discussions revolved around interview strategies, emphasizing confidence, preparation, and self-introduction. Participants delved into resume updates, convergent and divergent thinking, mock interviews and common interview questions. Body language, handling difficult questions, and follow-up etiquette were also highlighted. The event underscored the value of hard work, continual practice, and stepping out of comfort zones. A Q&A session provided further insights, and the event concluded with the attendees motivated and enlightened.
NIZHAL
The event 'Nizhal', aimed to support roadside workers by providing them with umbrellas, funded by the sale of handmade wire baskets created by the Rotaractors across various phases of the event Hand -i- hood. This initiative provided essential protection for workers against hot and rainy conditions. Such thoughtful acts of kindness significantly enhanced the comfort and well-being of these workers. Incorporating the club's logos and names onto the umbrellas is a novel approach to promoting the club. Thus, the funds raised were used to meet a sustainable need for deserving individuals, creating a significant impact on their lives. This event falls under the "L - LIVELIHOOD" category within the theme "SMILE" under District Priority Projects.
