GLORIFY
"Glorify" was a multi-phase community service event focused on "Reuse, Renovate, and Contribute." Notably, it established a mini library at Nizhal Charitable Trust in Coimbatore, fully funded by the proceeds from its second phase. The initiative's first phase involved creatively repurposing tender coconut shells for the "Zeal" event. By selling custom coconut sapling pots in the second phase, they raised over Rs. 2000. This mini library, primarily stocked with academic guides, particularly benefited 10th to 12th-grade students. In essence, "Glorify" revitalized the past, improved the present, and safeguarded knowledge for the future.
PIXEFX
Pixefx is an event in the avenue of International service . Along with GCT IEEE Student branch , a visual designing workshop was held . Basics on visual designing , tools in Adobe illustrator and Adobe photoshop were taught by the designers Rtr. Anurag Sachin , Rtr. Srijeyalakshmi and Mr. Thoufik Abdullah . Their doubts were cleared on spot . In between sessions , icebreakers were held to rejuvenate the participants . By the end of session the participants were asked to design a poster and logo on their own . Recognitions were given to the best logo and poster .
ZEAL
Zeal is a district priority project . It is a marathon that was conducted to create awarness on cancer among the general public which was conducted along with our parent Rotary , Rotary Club of Coimbatore East and SLV Hospital . The marathon was conducted for both boys and girls under three categories - 2.5 km , 5 km and 10 km . Participants were given T-shirts, chest number boards and refreshments . The participants who completed the marathon were given participation certificate and the winners were awarded with medals and certificates . A gallery were posters made by GCT students on Cancer awareness were also displayed at the hospital .
WILDO
Wildo is an International service event . It was conducted on account of World Wildlife Day to create awareness about Human Elephant conflicts and to provide knowledge on Forestry and Wildlife Conservation . The Rotaracters visited Eden Garden Nursery , Vadavalli to learn abou Human Elephant conflict from Mr. Thangaraj Paneerselvam , who is a retired Forest Range Officer. He also shared his wisdom on the natural flora and fauna . Then the participants were taken to the Forest boundary near Marudhamali Hills along with Wildlife Conservation Trust . Deer and Elephants were see roaming around .
WELLA TALKS
This International Service project was a collaborative effort with The Rotaract Club of Wellawatte, RID 3220, conducted via the Zoom platform. The primary objective was to foster fellowship between the two clubs.
The event commenced with a reflection on the Pongal celebrations in both clubs, sparking engaging conversations about temples and various festivals beyond Pongal. Additionally, participants enjoyed a virtual tour of the top 5 tourist destinations in both India and Sri Lanka. This immersive experience showcased the rich cultures and diverse rituals beyond India's borders, providing a captivating and educational glimpse into these traditions.
RaC GCT திருவிழா
RaC GCT திருவிழா is an event conducted in the club service avenue. It is a fun fest event for the Rotaracters . The event was filled with fun filled games with its main motive to bring back the child in us . Small games played purely for the enjoyment factor and not for prizes . The participants were divided into teams and games were conducted. The games included Cards and Straws , Hit the Number, Adzap and Blow the Ball. The last game was something to make us nostalgic titled Quiz on Cartoons .
ஆரோக்கியம்
ஆரோக்கியம் is a event that was conducted in the avenue of Community service. Along with Sankara Eye Hospital, Sri Ramakrishna Dental Hospital and Kumaran Medical Centre , a medical camp was conducted for the corporation workers who are poor , that they were unable to go for a medical check up . Over 80 workers underwent Eye , Dental and General body check up . After the check up free Cataract surgery was prescribed for 6 workers , 16 workers were given free spectacles , 60 workers were suggested to come for a free dental cleaning , 13 for removing bad teeth , 8 for clipping and 2 for getting artificial teeth.
EXCALIBUR
Excalibur is a community service initiative, aimed to support children on their path to success. This event involved the donation of essential stationary items to government school children, including ball pens, ink pens, black pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, A4 sheets, notebooks, staplers, pins, charts, scales, compasses, protractors, glue bottles, and record notes. These generous donations came from students and teachers at GCT, Coimbatore, based on the specific needs of the schools.
Beyond the stationary donations, valuable time was dedicated to interacting with the children. This included engaging in fun games and discussions about their future aspirations. The children had the opportunity to showcase their talents through singing, poem recitation, drawing, and dancing.
This impactful event unfolded in ten phases, each taking place in a different school. Through EXCALIBUR, these students received not only much-needed supplies but also encouragement and support on their educational journey.
COGNITION
Cognition is a Professional service event conducted to part knowledge on mental health and peace . This session was conducted by Mr. Kapil Varadhan , MAD Regional Manger . The session was on self care and its importance . The event also focused on small self care routine that could give as mental peace and keep our emotional state healthy and peaceful . The topics such as social , emotional and emotional well being were explained and their importance in our life was elaborated. Golden rules to build and shape ourselves into an emotionally strong person were taught . A self care kit was distributed to all participants.
ZEST
Zest is a Community service event . On account of Rotaract week , a parallel sports fest was conducted in three orphanages. In Don Bosco Anbu Ilam, Ukkadam , sports event conducted were Throwball, Chess, Table Tennis , Football , Basketball , Kabaddi , Relay race and Lemon and spoon were conducted . In Sevashram Trust , 100m Running race , Kabaddi , Throwball , Chess , Carrom , Fill the water bottle , Lemon and spoon and Dodge ball were conducted. In Mariyalaya Girls home , games such as Throwball , Kho-Kho , Lemon and spoon , Bottle filling , and Badminton were organized . After all these events refreshments were distributed . Winners were distributed medals . the DRR visited the orphanages when the events were being conducted and had an interactive session with the children .
